So in this episode, Damon and Stefan and Lily try to kill Julian, but of course they fail, mainly because Mary-Louise sides with Julian even after Valerie tells her how Julian killed her unborn child. It's a good thing Nora gives Mary-Lou the ring back. How can she marry someone who chooses the side of a monster? Nora was always my favorite of the two anyway.

Well, even though Julian doesn't die, there is a casualty in this episode: Lily. In a hail mary attempt, Lily stakes herself thinking she would take Julian with her, but Mary-Lou has already unlinked the two, which begs the question: if you only need one heretic to unlink Lily and Julian, then why did they try so hard to get all three heretics on their side??? Very unlogical. And speaking of unlogical, Lily dies because of splinters in her heart??? This is the first I've heard of a stake leaving splinters in a vampire's body.

Well, it doesn't really matter how she died. The point is she's dead, so R.I.P. Lily. Never did I not like you. I mean, you were kind of annoying at first, but you were never really the villain; all you wanted was for you and your heretic family to co-exist with Damon and Stefan. And I guess in the end, Stefan loved you. But we definitely can't say the same of Damon. It's pretty clear that Damon did not forgive Lily, but I really wanted him too. I mean, Lily's on her death bed, and Damon's last words to her are really cold. Well, at least we viewers know that Damon regrets what he says to Lily in the future.
