Gilmore Girls in a Nutshell

Show Name: Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Family
Run: 7 seasons (153 episodes)
Running Time: 43 minutes
Network: The WB/The CW

Lorelai Gilmore, a stubbornly independent and sassy single mom, raises her daughter who's also named Lorelai "Rory" Gilmore in the town of Stars Hallow, Connecticut. Lorelai was a high school dropout who ran away from home when she got pregnant at 16 but now owns her own the Dragonfly Inn with her best friend Sookie St. James. Rory is a brilliant, bookish high school student who breaks out of her shell over the course of the show and attends Yale. Together, they make the Gilmore Girls! The show follows Lorelai's and Rory's lives in Stars Hallow as well as Rory's adventures at her prep school Chilton and Yale. It also shows them having two separate lives almost, one in the small town of Stars Hallow and the other in Hartford where they are part of the socialite scene since Lorelai's parents, Emily and Richard, are extremely rich. Throughout, they learn to navigate their daily-life and relationship problems as well as making friendships that will last a lifetime.

Gilmore Girls is a truly amazing show! Lorelai and Rory have the cutest mother-daughter relationship because they are more like best friends. They tell each other everything and are each other's #1 supporter. As a matter of fact, everyone in this show is pretty great! From Luke to Paris, they all have such unique and polar opposite personalities that actually complement each other really well. They all care so much for each other in this show and it makes your heart warm. Even though the show seems so small-town and relatable, it has some OH! MY! GOD! moments too.

Beyond that, the dialogue is quick, super witty, and has a lot of pop culture references that are more like throwbacks now. Gilmore Girls is definitely a feel good show where you can just sit back and enjoy the ride. It's no nail-bitter but I don't know...it just makes you feel happy. You become really invested in all of characters lives because you they're so easy to love (some more so than others).

However, the end was really bittersweet for me because Rory ended up single and I really wanted her to end up with Logan. Also, it wasn't confirmed that Luke and Lorelai would be together--just implied--even though anyone who watches knows they're MTB (meant-to-be)! Nonetheless, never fear, because they're going to have a reunion this June and hopefully they'll announce a movie to tie up the loose ends. Fingers crossed!

P.S. The theme song is really good too! I always sing along.
