The Princess Diaries is a funny, relatable, and one of my favorite books of all time. It's about Mia Thermopolis, a regular yet irregularly tall freshman in her opinon, who all of a sudden finds out that she's the princess of Genovia. Now, she's thrust into the spotlight all the while experiencing her awkward phase that doesn't want Michael, her best friend Lily's brother, much less the world to witness. Then, her mom starts dating her teacher. Her life may be a mess but at least she's a princess, right? (By the way, this book inspired the movie The Princess Diaries (2001) with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews!)

Book: The Royal We by Heather Cocks
The Royal We is fictional book loosely based off Kate Middleton's romance with Prince William. However, American Rebecca Porter is the new Kate Middleton who encounters the future king, Prince Nicholas, at none other than Oxford (coincidence much?). However, loving a prince isn't a walk in a ball(park). All the drama and pressures from ex-girlfriends, the royal relatives, and the media makes her question whether sacrificing her life is worth it. This is modern fairytale with an out-of-high-school character that is very much similar to The Heir and the Spare. However, in this one, Rebecca actually gets the heir.

Book: Suddenly Royal (Suddenly #1) by Nichole Chase
Suddenly Royal follows Samantha Rousseau, a nobody turned front-page news, who too falls in love with a royal. She and Prince Alex are complete opposites in personality and lifestyles. However, fairytales are meant to have happy endings, and it's no different for Samantha and Alex. Before that though, they have to overcome their differences and new-founded struggles as well as bear the weight of ruling a country. Who knew being royal was such a royal pain?
