Brett is always getting herself involved in other people's business... It's literally one patient after another. She may have good intentions, but sometimes it might be better if she just didn't get involved. Like in this episode, a boy was kidnapped by his father, and Brett returns that kid to his mom who is totally on drugs. I don't think this will be the last we see of her.
