This book picks up right where All Fall Down left off, and I have to say that it's back and better than ever. Personally, I like See How They Run much more than the first book because there is so much more action in comparison. All Fall Down was meant to set up for all the drama that comes in this book, so it's slow by nature.

In the previous book, it is revealed that Dominic, the scarred man, is actually a friend of Grace's mom and is most certainly not her killer. Even though it seems like Dominic is involved in some fishy business, he looks out for Grace, who is not very concerned for her own safety. There is a lot of history between Grace's mom and Dominic that I'm curious about. For instance, why did their relationship end? Curiouser and curiouser…

In See How They Run, we finally get to meet Grace's infamous brother, Jamie, who is accompanied by his friend from West Point, Spencer. Jamie is back to look after Grace since she just found out that she killed her own mother. I liked Jamie in the respect that he doesn't resent his sister for accidentally murdering their mom. He still loves her like a big brother should. In contrast, he is even more protective of Grace because she has been through such a traumatic experience. He makes me wish I had an older brother. So cute!

On a sad note, there's a twist in events when Spencer is found dead. and Alexei is thought to be the murder. This puts a wedge between Alexei and Jamie, who are best friends or former best friends. However, this doesn't stop Grace from talking to Alexei or from searching for the truth since she doesn't believe it to be Alexei. While investigating Spencer's murder, she learns about many surprising secrets. This involves a secret society that may be tied to her mother's death, and that's all I'm going to say. I don't want to spoil the book too much. BTW, I love secret societies so this development is very exciting. However, there seems to be something sinister involving this SS, but I won't say anything more. That's the last of it!

On the bright side, Megan and Noah get together, and it seems pretty official. Rosie is still the same ol' Rosie. Basically, she's adorable and super smart. She probably wouldn't appreciate me calling her adorable since she's twelve going on thirteen but oh well. Also, Lila becomes more likable-ish. I'm not totally bought by her because I have a feeling she's hiding something and she's so closed off. Additionally, it seems as if she might be interested in Alexei, and that's a major no-no. However, it'd be even worse if she got with Jamie, Grace's brother. I'd die. Not literally, but that always happens and I really don't dig that kind of storyline. Jamie's too good for her! If this happens, I totally called it! Hopefully, it doesn't happen.

As for Alexei, I freaking love Alexei. He and Grace are so cute together. He obviously likes her, so it sucks that Jamie has to get in the way and forbid it? Why, Jamie? I hope they get more scenes together. See, that's the thing with Carter's novel. She spends a lot of time developing the plot, so many times, the love interests don't get much screen time. This is true for Zach in the Gallagher Girls and Hale in Heist Society. I just want MORE!

I am loving how the plot developed in this novel. Carter doesn't seem like she has a set number of novels for her series, so there may be more after the third. Regardless, the characters are great in this novel, and I can't wait to see how things turn out for them in the next!

Enjoy!!!
