The first season premiere is finally here! And boy, do I have a lot to say about this episode.
Before I begin, let me just mention how it takes them about 5 episodes to get to Safehold, but takes them only one to return back to Arborlon.
Another question I have—if Amberle needs to go back to Arborlon to save the Ellcrys, then why did Wil, Eretria, and Amberle need to go to Safehold in the first place?! Amberle already had the seed prior to their journey, so it's not like she needed to get it from the Bloodfire. What basically happends in the Bloodfire is that a girl who looks like Amberle tells her that she's the seed, and that she doesn't want the physical seed that she brought to her. So seriously why did they have to bring the seed to Safehold if Amberle ends up getting the seed back anyway? Okay, well I guess if she didn't go, then she wouldn't have known she was the seed.
However, in the episode Wil confronts Allanon saying that the druid knew Amberle was the seed and was going to sacrifice herself in the end. Well, Allanon, if you knew then why the hell did you send them to Safehold when you could have just told Amberle what to do? It would have saved a bunch of time. Unless, Allanon didn't know from the start. Maybe Allanon just found out when Wil and Amberle came back by reading Amberle's mind.
But nonetheless, this plot line is very flimsy.
Speaking of which, since when were Commander Tilton and Andera thing?? Omg. Well, I guess not anymore because she's dead... Arion makes another appearance again too, and his scene where he begs Ander to kill him was quite emotional.
Okay, so the Dagda Mor is made out to be super powerful and stuff, but he dies super easily by the Druid's blade. It's not even an cool fight to the death. Barely. If anything, it's anticlimactic because Wil, our PROTAGONIST isn't even the one who defeats him. Allanon does.
The demons were also made out to be really powerful and scary, but strength-wise, they're pretty much like the Elven army. The demons don't use magic or anything. They fight with their hands and physical weapons I think, so that was pretty lame. Ander isn't kidding when he says that the demons outnumber them 1000 to 1... and that's pretty much their only advantage.
Well anyway, it looks like Bandon might be the next antagonist if there is a next season. I hope there is! And I hope Wil saves Eretria and Amberle! I really want some way for Amberle to come out of the Ellcrys. This can't be the end of her and Wil!
