Breaking News: Switched at Birth's Fifth and Final Season!

Show Name: Switched at Birth (2011-present)
Genre: Family, Drama
Run: 5 seasons (103 episodes)
Running Time: 43 minutes
Network: ABC Family/Freeform

Bay Kennish is a teenage who grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother. Fellow teen Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age, was raised by a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. One day in her high-school chemistry class, Bay discovers that her blood type doesn't match either of her parents'. Official tests confirm that Bay is not her parents' birth child. When the Kennish family meets Daphne and her mom, Regina, they realize that the girls were switched at birth. The news prompts the Kennishes to allow Regina—who is experiencing financial difficulties—Daphne and Daphne's grandmother to live in their guest house. The two polar-opposite families struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls, who try to keep their footing in both the world they know and the new one into which they are thrown.

I didn't know until Lilian told me today, but Switched at Birth is ending! The next season is their last, and get this—it's only going to be 10 episodes. Thank you, TV gods (and Lilian) for giving me this news! Switched was never really my favorite show, but you probably already knew that. Unlike Lilian, I'm relatively happy that this show is ending. That's one less show that I don't like to watch off my list. You know, I should be a better judge of TV shows. I pick a bunch up, and once I start watching, I rarely ever drop it, even if I really don't like watching it. My mentality is that even if a show I "sort of like but don't really love" is even a little good, I have to keep watching because what if it becomes really good? Then, I'd be missing out.

I've stuck with Switched at Birth because it's not the worst show ever, but I don't enjoy it as much as true fans do. To those who love Switched, sorry for taking happiness in its last season. Hey—at least, it's not getting cancelled. It will have a proper ending, and that's always good.

Happiness:
