New Yorker Zoe Hart thought she had it all together. After graduating from med school, she would become a cardio-thoracic surgeon like her father. However, it turns out her father is not a cardio-thoracic surgeon but small town physician, Dr. Harley Wilkes. Then, her life starts falling apart so she takes an offer from Dr. Harley Wilkes to work at his practice in Bluebell, Alabama, unbeknownst to her that he has a partner, Dr. Brick Breeland, and that he's actually dead and has left the practice to her.

When she arrives, Zoe starts out on the wrong foot with nearly everyone in town. However, knowing that this is her chance to get out away from her overbearing mother, Zoe braves it out and decides to stay in Bluebell. Here, in Bluebell. she finally finds a place that feels like home.

Hart of Dixie was one of my favorite shows to watch after a long week. It's a mix of small town charm with a bunch of gossip, basically Gilmore Girls and Gossip Girl rolled into one show!! And what's better than that? Huh? Huh? NOTHING! Just kidding!! Well, kind of because this show was pretty darn great.

Hart of Dixie is a very character driven show, which I totally adore. Even though the people of Bluebell aren't the nicest to Zoe at first, they definitely warm up to her. Everyone is always looking out for each other and taking care for each other and that just makes them all so cute!! They do a bunch of activities and festivals together as a town and everyone participates. They're a very close-knit and loving community. This kind of makes me want to move to one…because wouldn't it be nice to actually know your neighbors? I don't know mine and the ones I know of are always threatening to call the police on us because we're too loud at night and stealing our parking spots. So yeah, only if they're like Bluebell or Stars Hallow, but they MUST have Viet food since I ain't gonna get fat eating burgers all day. Because what is exercise?

From the beginning, I was Team Zade because no offense, George, just no. Just no. I didn't really like George because he was here, then he was there. He was up, then he was down. He was in and then he was out. This poor guy was just very confused, kind of like Zoe, so he definitely wasn't what she needed. And Wade is soooooo much better. He and Zoe laugh together and make other people laugh together. They aren't a boring mushy couple who like to watch foreign plays together. (Ehem, ehem, George and Zoe!)

Also, I hate love triangles!!!! With a fire, burning passion. That and cheating, of course. Like if you're meant to be what's the point of all the trouble of being with one person when you're destined for the other. Then, you have all this unnecessary testosterone in mix. What a waste of time! And yeah, really not into characters who cheat on each other, so I think I stopped watching for a while during the third season because I was over Wade. But, it's okay!! I forgave him, ish, and so did Zoe and there was a HEA!!

The plot is, well, character-driven. Lots of people drama. These people do get around and everyone is bound to get with everyone, or it seems like it. Just like Gossip Girl or 90210. However, there's usually something going on with the town to add to the drama. It's very fun, the tone is light, and the show is very amusing.

Anyway, there's no show like this on TV currently. Not that I know of anyhow. Everything now is dark, mysterious, and overly dramatic. It doesn't have the light-hearted drama of this show that just sucks you in. Definitely recommend because the bottom line is that it's a rom-com!!! Enjoy!!

Characters:

Zoe Hart: Zoe Hart was a heart surgeon turned family doctor. A New York transplant, Zoe feels out of place as she adjusts to living in the Alabama heat with the close-knit town. She is a fast-talker who is extremely nosy to the point of meddlesome at times. However, this is all a part of Zoe's charm since she is a very caring person and just wants to help people. She becomes best friend with Mayor Lavon Hayes.

Wade Kinsella: Wade Kinsella is a homegrown, truck-driving country boy through and through. He is also Zoe and Lavon's neighbor and a bartender at the Rammer Jammer, the local bar. He is a sweet-talking, ladies' man who can charm the pants off a woman, young or old. Often times, Wade acts like he doesn't care about anyone or anything to hide his true feelings since he has trust issues due to his alcoholic old man.

Lemon Breeland: Lemon Breeland is the Queen Bee of Bluebell, Alabama. She is the picture-perfect Southern Belle who was engaged to her high school sweetheart George Tucker. Lemon is conservative, a little OCD, and definitely likes to have things go her way because it usually is her way or the highway. She's also a daddy's girl to the town doctor Brick Breeland. Despite her cold exterior and ulterior motives, Lemon is just trying to protect the people she loves.

George Tucker: George Tucker is the town's lawyer and the first friendly face that Zoe meets in Bluebell. He is a Southern gentleman who is beloved by Bluebell. George is often too polite to say what he thinks and easily roped into other people's schemes.

Lavon Hayes: Lavon Hayes was a former NFL linebacker and is the current mayor of Bluebell. Lavon is very kind and readily welcomes Zoe and gives her a place to live in his home. He is also smart and is a people person, well versed at handling problems among his friends and in the town. Appearance-wise, he is very tall and fashionable. His quirks include him owning a pet alligator named Burt Reynolds.

Annabeth Nass: Annabeth is Lemon Breeland's best friend as well as one of the Belles. Annabeth is a Southern lady who is very sweet and kind. She is considerate of other people's feelings and always to help people. However, she is also sassy and a perfectly capable of giving you a piece of her mind.

Brick Breeland: Brick Breeland is the a respected town doctor who now shares his practice with Zoe Hart after the passing of his deceased partner, Harley Wilkes. He is the father of Lemon and Magnolia Breeland. At first, he is very critical of Zoe Hart and gives her a hard time. Overall, Brick is a closed-off person due to his wife leaving their family.
