Stefan and Damon Salvatore return to their hometown of Mystic Falls, Virginia. There, they both meet Elena Gilbert, a teenage girl who resembles their past love, Katherine Pierce. Elena falls in love with Stefan, but their relationship gets complicated when Elena becomes attracted to Damon. Two words. LOVE TRIANGLE!! And just when things couldn't get anymore complicated, Elena finds out the Salvatore brothers are bloodsucking vampires and that her best friend, Bonnie, is a witch.

The Originals is a spinoff of TVD and revolves around Klaus and the other Mikaelsons (Elijah, Rebekah, etc.). It takes place in New Orleans instead of Mystic Falls, but there are crossovers! Klaus was only in TVD for a couple of seasons portrayed as the antagonist, but in The Originals, he's the protagonist. You can't help but root for him. He's just as wicked and devilishly charming as he was in TVD, only now, we learn way more about him and his family problems.
As the name suggests, Teen Wolf is about werewolves. There are no vampires in the Teen Wolf world (yet), but there are definitely a lot of werewolves. The comedy is very similar to TVD, but Teen Wolf has a lighter atmosphere (so more jokes and one-liners). However, Teen Wolf still does have that horror aspect. The episodes aren't scary, but some are creepy, similar to TVD episodes.
Awkward isn't supernatural at all. There are no vampires or witches or werewolves—it couldn't be more realistic. However, I included it in this recommendation because of the love triangle. In TVD, the love triangle involves two brothers, but in Awkward, it involves two best friends.
